At Cinnaminson Middle School, we believe that strong character is just as important as academic success. That’s why we celebrate Pirate P.R.I.D.E., a program that highlights and reinforces the values we want our students to carry with them every day: Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Empathy.
Each month, we focus on one of these character traits school-wide. Teachers and staff weave the monthly theme into classroom discussions, activities, and recognition opportunities, helping students understand not only what the trait means but also how to live it out in their daily lives.
-
Perseverance encourages students to keep trying, even when work or challenges feel tough.
-
Respect reminds everyone that kindness and consideration build a positive community.
-
Integrity guides students to do what is right, even when no one is watching.
-
Dedication highlights the value of commitment and giving your best effort.
-
Empathy helps students learn to understand and care about the feelings of others.
To encourage and celebrate these traits, teachers recognize students who consistently display the trait of the month. Recognized students may receive a Pirate P.R.I.D.E. Ticket, which can be exchanged for a snack ticket and also enters them into a monthly raffle for prizes. This recognition system not only motivates students but also shows them that living with character has real rewards.
Through Pirate P.R.I.D.E., our goal is to build a supportive school culture where students are recognized not just for what they achieve, but also for the kind of people they are becoming.

Perseverance in Action
For Students:
Perseverance means sticking with a task even when it feels challenging. At CMS, students can show perseverance by:
- Completing assignments even if the first attempt isn’t perfect.
- Asking questions and seeking help when something is confusing.
- Setting small goals and working step by step toward a bigger achievement.
- Trying again after mistakes instead of giving up.
For Parents:
Families play a big role in helping children build perseverance. You can support your student by:
- Praising effort more than results (“I’m proud of how hard you worked on that project”).
- Encouraging problem-solving instead of providing all the answers.
- Sharing stories of times you had to work through challenges.
- Helping your child see mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow.
Together, we can help our Pirates learn that persistence leads to success!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to share that our district and school websites will be transitioning to a new platform effective this week: ParentSquare. This move is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance communication, accessibility, and engagement between our schools and families.
Why ParentSquare?
ParentSquare provides a unified platform where families can receive school updates, view calendars, communicate with staff, and access essential resources—all in one place. This transition will help streamline how information is shared and ensure it reaches you quickly and efficiently.
What to Expect:
- Our current district and school websites will begin redirecting to our new ParentSquare starting on Monday, May 5.
- You will still be able to access all important announcements, documents, and contact information.
- Training materials and tutorials will be provided to help you get familiar with the new layout and features.
We are confident that this change will improve your experience and make it easier to stay connected with your child’s school. Thank you for your continued support as we work to enhance our communication tools.
If you have any questions or need assistance during this transition, please do not hesitate to contact your school office.
