November’s Focus is INTEGRITY

Integrity in Action
For Students:
Integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. At CMS, students can show integrity by:
  • Being honest in their words and actions.
  • Taking responsibility for their choices and learning from mistakes.
  • Treating others fairly and standing up for what’s right.
  • Following school rules and expectations, even when it’s tempting not to.
For Parents:
Families play an important role in helping students build integrity. You can support your child by:
  • Praising honesty, even when the truth is hard to share.
  • Talking about the importance of making good choices and keeping promises.
  • Sharing examples of integrity from your own life or community.
  • Encouraging your child to think about how their actions affect others.
Together, we can help our Pirates understand that integrity is the foundation of trust and good character!

Adolescent Vaccines: Protecting Our Children’s Future Health

Each year, about 35,000 men and women are diagnosed with cancers caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). The virus is extremely common—most people will be infected at some point in their lives, often without even knowing it. While many infections go away on their own, some can lead to cancer later in life.
We can help protect our children by promoting healthy habits such as eating nutritious foods, staying active, using sunscreen, avoiding tobacco—and ensuring they receive the HPV vaccine.
The American Cancer Society and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend that boys and girls ages 11–12 receive the HPV vaccine as a safe and effective way to prevent six types of cancers. When given at the recommended ages, the vaccine can prevent up to 90% of HPV-related cancers and offers long-lasting protection.

November is Epilepsy Awareness Month

Throughout November, we take time to raise awareness and show support for those living with epilepsy. In the United States, about 3.4 million people are affected, and 1 in 26 will develop epilepsy during their lifetime.

Epilepsy causes recurring seizures, which may look different from person to person. Some may experience a brief staring spell, while others may have muscle jerks or full-body convulsions. Most seizures last only a few minutes, and afterward, a person may feel tired or confused. If you ever see someone having a seizure, the most important thing is to stay calm—gently help them lie on their side, move objects away from them, and never put anything in their mouth. Your calm response can make a big difference.

Please join the Cinnaminson community on Thursday, November 20th by wearing purple to show your support for Epilepsy Awareness Month and to help spread understanding and compassion for those living with the condition.

If you’d like to explore more, check out books like Zeeba and the Seizure by Michaela Barnes or Sometimes I Get the Wiggles – Be an Epilepsy Seizure Hero by Andee Cooper—great resources for helping children learn about epilepsy in a relatable way.
