May’s Focus is DEDICATION

Our May focus at CMS is Dedication—staying committed, working hard, and giving your best effort even when things get challenging. Dedication is about pushing through, showing responsibility, and taking pride in everything we do. As we move toward the end of the school year, we encourage our Pirates to stay focused, finish strong, and continue to show dedication in their daily efforts.

Dedication in Action

For Students:
Dedication means putting in consistent effort and not giving up. At CMS, students can demonstrate dedication by:
Showing up each day ready to learn and participate.
Staying focused on schoolwork and giving their best effort, even when it’s difficult.
Completing assignments and responsibilities on time.
Practicing and improving skills in academics, sports, and activities.
Setting goals and working hard to achieve them.

For Parents:
Families can help reinforce dedication by:
Encouraging perseverance and a strong work ethic at home.
Helping children set goals and celebrate progress along the way.
Supporting routines that promote responsibility and consistency.
Talking about the importance of effort, commitment, and not giving up.
Recognizing hard work and determination, not just results.

Together, we can help our Pirates build a strong sense of dedication that will carry them through the end of the school year and beyond.

Sports Updates

Dear CMS Families,

Fall sports physicals for the 2026-2027 school year will take place after school at CMS on Wednesday May 20th at 2:35 PM. Physicals will be conducted by our school physician, Dr. Wiseman, and are free of charge to students. Students may take the late bus at 3:35 PM or arrange for parent pick-up. To secure an appointment, students must submit a hard copy of the sports physical packet to the school nurse (Mrs. Black) or the Main Office by Friday, May 8th or May 15th respectively.

If your student will be using the school physician, sports physical forms can be found here. Students may also pick up paper copies in the Main Office or Nurse’s Office. The History Form (Pages 1 and 2) must be completed and signed by both a parent/guardian and student. The Athletes With Disabilities Form should be completed, if applicable. Please include the student's name and date of birth on all pages. Dr. Wiseman will complete the Physical Examination Form and Medical Eligibility Form.

Note: The Health History must be fully completed or the physician will not be able to conduct the physical. Any student who wants to try out for a fall sport must have a valid sports physical within the past 365 days.

CMS Board of Education Achievement Award

Mr. Luke Bakanas

Congratulations to Mr. Luke Bakanas on receiving the Cinnaminson Board of Education Achievement Award! Mr. Bakanas is recognized for his continued support of all students, his willingness to always lend a helping hand to both students and staff, and his incredible love and knowledge of music. As our CMS Music Teacher, he goes above and beyond each day through leading our Jazz Band, advising the Esports Club, and this year creating the CMS Drumline. We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved honor and thankful for the positive impact he makes at CMS every day!

Dress Code Reminder

As the weather begins to warm up, we want to take a moment to remind families about the importance of adhering to the Cinnaminson Middle School dress code. Our goal is to maintain a safe, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment for all students.

With warmer temperatures, we understand that students may choose lighter and more seasonal clothing. Please help us ensure that all attire remains neat, clean, modest, and appropriate for school. In particular, we ask families to review a few key guidelines with their children:

  • Shorts, skirts, and similar garments should be an appropriate length (reaching the tip of extended fingers when arms are at a student’s side).
  • Shirts must fully cover the midriff, and straps should be at least two finger-widths wide.
  • Undergarments should not be visible.
  • Footwear must be safe and appropriate for school (no slippers).
  • Clothing and accessories must be free of inappropriate language, images, or symbols.

Additionally, students are expected to remove head coverings (non-religious-affiliated) and outdoor jackets upon entering the building and store them in their lockers for the duration of the school day.

We appreciate your partnership in helping reinforce these expectations at home. By working together, we can ensure that all students feel comfortable, safe, and ready to focus on learning as we head into the spring season.

Thank you for your continued support!
