June’s Focus is EMPATHY

Our June focus at CMS is Empathy—understanding and caring about the feelings and experiences of others. Empathy is about showing kindness, listening with compassion, and treating others with respect and understanding. As we move toward the end of the school year, we encourage our Pirates to continue building positive connections and supporting one another through words and actions.

Empathy in Action
For Students:
Empathy means putting yourself in someone else’s shoes and showing care and understanding. At CMS, students can demonstrate empathy by:
  • Listening respectfully when others are speaking.
  • Including classmates and making others feel welcome.
  • Offering help or encouragement to someone who may be struggling.
  • Being thoughtful with words and actions, both in person and online.
  • Recognizing and respecting that everyone may have different feelings, perspectives, and experiences.
For Parents:
Families can help reinforce empathy by:
  • Encouraging open conversations about feelings and understanding others’ perspectives.
  • Modeling kindness, patience, and compassion at home.
  • Helping children recognize how their actions affect others.
  • Encouraging acts of kindness and support within the family and community.
  • Talking about the importance of treating others with respect and understanding.
Together, we can help our Pirates continue to grow into caring, compassionate individuals who make CMS a supportive and welcoming community for all.

CMS Class of 2026 families — Our 8th Grade End of the Year Luau is almost here! The luau will take place on Friday, June 12th from 6:30–8:30 PM at CMS for 8th-grade students only. Students should arrive on the parking lot side of the building. Casual attire is encouraged, including polos, button-down shirts, shorts, sundresses, or skirts. Refreshments will be served, and the cost is $5 per person.
All permission slips and payment are due to homeroom teachers by Thursday, June 11th. Please note that students must be picked up promptly at 8:30 PM and are not permitted to walk or bike home. We look forward to celebrating the CMS Class of 2026 with a fun evening together!

8th Grade Promotion

We are excited to celebrate our 8th grade students at their Promotion Ceremony on June 17th at 6:30 PM at CHS Football Field.

We plan to hold the ceremony outdoors, weather permitting. If held outside, no tickets will be required and all families will be welcome to attend. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved indoors, and each student will be allotted a limited number of tickets due to seating capacity. Tickets, in case of an indoor ceremony, will be sent home in the mail this upcoming week.

Student attire for the evening is business casual, and we recommend flat-bottom shoes for comfort and safety. The students do not wear gowns.

We look forward to celebrating this special milestone with our students and families as we recognize all of their hard work and accomplishments at CMS!
