Dear CMS Families,
On behalf of our Cinnaminson Middle School staff, I would like to welcome you to the start of the 2026-2027 school year! I hope you and your families are enjoying a relaxing summer together. Our CMS staff is looking forward to the return of our students on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. This will be afull day of school for all CMS students, and breakfast/lunch will be served. School will be open with full days for the remainder of that week, including the Friday before Labor Day Weekend. District schools will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026 for Labor Day.
The name and room number of your child’s homeroom teacher is now available for review in the Genesis Parent Portal. All students will receive their full class schedules on the first day of school during homeroom. In order for you to access the homeroom teacher’s information, all families must visit the Genesis Parent Portal to complete the mandatory annual forms. When you log in to Genesis, you will see these forms under 'STUDENT DATA -> Forms'. Please also take a moment to click on the 'CONTACTS' tab to be sure your contact information is up to date. If you are moving or have moved, please reach out to our district registrar, Tracy Reed, with this information at: reedt@cinnaminson.com. School doors open daily at 7:52AM and students must report to homeroom by 8:02 AM each morning for attendance and announcements. Breakfast can be picked up in the cafeteria and athletic equipment dropped off in the locker rooms before students go to homeroom.
The student handbook is in the front of the school agenda book, which students will receive in their homerooms on the first day of school. We included the entire handbook as a QR Code this year as there are times that verbiage must be changed due to policy changes. Families will be alerted if any major changes occur in the handbook throughout the school year. A full-length, updated handbook will always be available on the CMS Website. Please review it thoroughly with your child once it is received so that he/she becomes familiar with the rules and expectations of CMS. As per the Middle School’s past policy and New Jersey’s new “bell-to-bell” law, student cell phones and other non-academic internet-enabled devices, such as smart watches, earbuds, and smart glasses, will be required to remain silenced in their lockers for the entirety of the day. Students are not permitted to have their cell phones or smart watches/glasses on their person. They are also not permitted to keep earbuds in their ears or headphones around their necks when in the halls. Students found to be violating this policy during the school day will be subject to disciplinary action. As in the past, if you need to contact your child, please call or email the main office who will get the message to your child promptly.

If you choose to drive your child to school, please utilize the loop at the front of the building or drop them on Forklanding Road by the crossing guard. If pulling through the loop, please note you may only turn right out of the driveway during arrival times. To ensure the safety of our students and staff, cars are not permitted to enter the large parking lot on the side of the building. For your planning purposes, please also note that students should not arrive at the school prior to 7:45AM as there are no staff on duty prior to this time. Students must be in their homerooms by 8:02AM for daily attendance. We recognize the mutual desire for a quick and easy drop-off process during those busy mornings, so please help us keep the traffic flowing smoothly by adhering to these procedures.

Morning Drop-Off/Arrival
- Students should not arrive on campus before 7:45AM, as there is no staff supervision available before then.
- Parent drop-off should happen on Forklanding Road or in the front loop of the building.
- When leaving the front loop between 7:45 and 8:15AM, only right turns are permitted. If you need to go south on Forklanding Road, the best option is to let your child out on Forklanding Road to be guided by the crossing guard at the corner of Woodview Lane and Forklanding Road.
- No drop-offs or afternoon-pick-ups are allowed in the main parking lot area during student arrival and dismissal.
- There are NO late buses the week of 9/2 - 9/4/2026.
- Each grade has a specific entrance into the building. 6th grade is the front stairwell entrance by the flagpole. 7th grade is the parking lot side stairwell entrance. 8th grade is the gym lobby entrance.
Student Bikers
- Students should wear helmets (it's the law) and abide by road rules on their rides to and from school.
- Students are not permitted to cut through the parking lots of St. Charles school and church.
- Students displaying unsafe behaviors on their rides to and/or from school will lose the privilege of riding their bikes to school.
- Per the NJ state law, no child under the age of 15 is permitted to ride an electric bike or electronic scooter. Therefore, the very high majority of our CMS students are not permitted to ride an e-bike or e-scooter to school. If your child turns 15 this school year and plans to get a license, please contact the administration to alert them.
Breakfast
- Breakfast will be offered before homeroom each morning, beginning on the first day of school. (See menu and pricing below.)
- It is crucial for students to know/memorize their student ID numbers in order to order assist with the lines moving quickly. Student ID numbers can be found on the Genesis Parent Portal.
6th Grade Students ONLY
- Don't forget to bring your locks!
- If you were unable to pick up your child's lock to practice ahead of the school year starting, they will receive them on Tuesday morning.
- Sixth grade students will congregate on the grass area near the flagpole to start their day on Tuesday.
- Sixth grade students will be called to breakfast on the first day after they arrive in their homerooms.

Dress Code
- Student attire must be neat, clean, modest and safe. As a general rule, shorts, skirts, etc. should reach the tip of the extended fingers when the arms are hanging normally at one’s side. Shirts must cover the torso and navel. Shirt straps must be at least two finger-widths wide.
- Students must wear undergarments, but not as outer garments. Undergarments must not be visible.
- Students must not wear head coverings anywhere in the building (exceptions made for religious requirements). All head coverings are to be removed immediately upon entering the building, and must be kept in lockers for duration of the school day.
- Students must wear rubber-soled footwear; slippers are not permitted for safety reasons.
- Students may not wear/carry garments or jewelry which depict bias symbols, hate messages, or is intended to harass, threaten, intimidate or demean an individual or group because of sex, color, race, religion, disability, national origin or sexual orientation
- Students may not wear/carry graphics that are suggestively obscene or offensive. These include, but not limited to, reference to violence, evil, death, destruction, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, obscenities and words/phrases with double meaning. Lewd figures and profanity are also unacceptable.
If a student is found to be in violation of the school dress code, they will be offered a change of clothing from the nurse's office.

You will begin the evening in your child's homeroom, where you will be given their schedule to follow for the remaining of the night. The event should end around 8:15PM.

A special Two Question Referendum to authorize the Cinnaminson School District to raise funds through the sale of bonds to finance the facilities improvement program is planned for Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Polls will be open from 2 PM to 8 PM.

As the summer begins to wind down, the athletic department for CMS would like to share a few reminders with our student athletes and their families in regards to participating in sports.
We can’t wait to see our athletes represent their school, their families and our community.
FALL 2026 SPORTS REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
To register your child for a sport, please log in to your Genesis Parent Portal. We strongly recommend using a laptop or Chromebook and not a cell phone or tablet. If you’ve forgotten your password, simply click the 'Forgot My Password' button and enter the email address you registered with. An automated email will be sent to you (check your spam folder if it doesn’t appear right away!). If you need further assistance, don’t hesitate to contact parentsupport@cinnaminson.com.
Once you're logged in, click on the 'STUDENT DATA' main tab, then the 'Forms' sub-tab. You’ll be directed to the 'Forms Library' where you can find a list of forms for each of your children. Select your child’s name, and under their name, click on the CMS FALL 2026 SPORTS REGISTRATION link. Please read through the form carefully, complete all questions, and follow the instructions to finalize the registration (make sure to allow pop-ups in your browser!). If you have another child to register, repeat the process for them as well.
Important Notice About Physical Examinations!
Before your athlete can participate in tryouts/practices, they must have a current physical examination on file in the athletic department's office. Physicals are valid for 365 days, so if your child had one recently, you may not need a new one—just complete the registration! To ensure they are cleared for participation, please have their physical completed and submitted by September 2nd for Fall sports. You can download the Sports Physical Packet from our website or at the link here: Physical Packet. Individual sports interest meetings will be held the week of 9/7. Those meetings will be held after school but students will be able to take the late bus home.
If your athlete has asthma, please fill out the Asthma Packet and return it to the school nurse. Remember, if your child requires an Epi-Pen, you’ll need to complete the Self Medication Form as well.
Final Clearance Reminder!
Please note that final clearance for participation will not be granted until both the online registration and the original (no photo copies) Physical Form are completed and signed off by our school physician. If your child has asthma, a new Asthma Treatment Plan and Self Medication Permission form must be submitted each year. Students will be informed when each team will hold their information session after school.

Dear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome back to the 2026-2027 school year! As we begin a new school year, please review the
following information regarding the district’s medication policy. We understand that students withchronic conditions, disabilities, or special circumstances may require medication during the
school day. We are committed to meeting these medical needs in a professional and caring
manner.
The district’s Medication Policy encourages that “medications be given at home whenever
possible.” All medications—prescription and over-the-counter—require both a physician’s order
and written parent/guardian consent. For students in grades 6–12, Ibuprofen and
Acetaminophen may be administered with parent/guardian permission through the Genesis
Parent Portal > Annual Health Survey.
Medication must be unexpired and delivered to the Health Office by a parent/guardian or
another responsible adult in the original container with a completed Request for Medication
Administration Form. Prescription medications must have a pharmacy label with the student’s
name, medication name, prescribing physician, and dosage instructions. Over-the-counter
medications must be in the original manufacturer’s container with the label intact. Loose pills in
plastic bags or envelopes cannot be accepted.
Please ask your pharmacist for two labeled bottles—one for home and one for school.
Medication orders and forms must be renewed each school year. Please note that a prescription
label is not a substitute for a physician’s order.
Students may not carry medications during the school day, except for inhalers and epinephrine
injectors with a completed self-administration form on file in the Health Office.
Medication administration forms are available in the Health Office or on the district website. Any
medication not picked up by a parent/guardian at the end of the school year will be disposed of
and cannot be stored for the following school year.

Starting the year strong begins with showing up! Regular school attendance is one of the best predictors of student success. Utilizing Genesis
Middle school introduces more independence, but students still need your guidance. We encourage you to log into Genesis weekly with your child. Sitting down together to review grades and check for completed assignments is a fantastic way to celebrate their hard work and catch any missing items early. Building Routines for Independence

Project Graduation is a volunteer-led committee dedicated to providing our graduating seniors with a safe, drug- and alcohol-free celebration following graduation. Throughout the year, the committee works to raise funds and plan an exciting and memorable event where our graduates can celebrate together in a safe environment.
We are currently looking for parents and community members to join the Project Graduation Committee. You do not need to have a senior—or even a student at the high school—to get involved! We welcome volunteers from all of our schools and grade levels.
While we are busy planning this year’s Project Graduation, this is an event that every Cinnaminson student will eventually have the opportunity to enjoy when they graduate. Keeping this tradition going takes the support and involvement of our entire community.
